Well, i got sims 3 when it came out. I was so excited. it was all shiny and new.
I bought one for a friend too because i was happy to have moneys.
...and then the trouble started. I had sims 2 on my laptop before so i thought it would be easy to install but guess what...IT WON'T READ THE DISK!
I installed it and all and then, hum, 'disk not found. please insert and try again'.
....O-kay, i thought, i'll just take out the disk and put it back in.
Same message.
Oooo-kay? I installed it and went to the manual. it said something about installing so EB game manager thing, so i did and that took another million years.
Then i installed the game again. It also uploaded onto the EB thing. that took even longer 'coz, once it had installed on my laptop it had to upload onto the EB manager.
And guess what...IT DIDN'T FIX THE PROBLEM!!!!! DX
HUm, i thought, maybe the help section on the website might have something.
so i went on the website and, ah ha! it's wasn't just me, it was the dvd program! thank the lord! all you have to do is disable it
Uh uh, nope. that didn't help either.
By this stage i was getting rather peeved but i kept looking. the website said that maybe if i updated the software on my computer it would work. so i went to the Toshiba website...i can't find the fricking model number!
By this time i was absolutely fricking peeved off so i got mum in. maybe she can help.
Well she put in a good three hours or so but she couldn't figure it out either.
So now i'm stranded in reality with no sims 3 to save me from it. Not that reality is so bad, i just wish that i could live like a sleazy wh*** without consequences...or something like that...
<.< >.>
So that is the story off my sims3 hell and i hope that, when my computer geek friends come back from Africa (i know, exciting, ey?) they can fix it for me. :(
Yours,
Ristro.

It's a myrical!
Hey there guys.
Guess what!? I found most of my stories! WOOOOOOOOO!!!! *dances* Thank the Lord for mums and their obsessive compulsion to file things. Oh, and for usb sticks too! Both of them have saved my life and my sanity.
Back when i didn't have my laptop - i think it was back then - i put all my stories on the family computer, the master computer if you will. As mum does every now and then, she made a copy of aaallllllll the files on the computer. I didn't know it then but my stories were included in that 'aaaallll'. She dragged the cds up last night on a hunch and 'a-walla' there they were all shiny and like knew :D I was so happy and relieved and all that good stuff. They weren't the most recent ones but they were the majority of all the old good ones. She suggested i put them on the back up cds for my laptop AND on my usb, just in case.
This is where the 'oh and my usb stick too' comes in. I didn't have enough time to look for my usb stick that night and do all the fancy stuff. I've only just had time to fathom the act. it took me a while to look for my usb but when i plugged it into the computer, gees it was worth it. I opened the folder and what should be staring back at me but another folder reading 'stories'. At first i was a little confused - i don't remember putting it there - but when i opened it i almost jumped out of my chair, i was that excited. All the old stories AND most of the new ones too! Even the one that i'd finished!!!
I've since put them BACK on my laptop as well as on cd and usb...but now comes another dilemma. Do i have enough room with the stories AND sims 3? Should i delete my tales off this here laptop or should i leave them on and deal with even slower download time?... I know i could and i'd still have to stories in 2 other places but it's still worrying. What if i lose the cds and the usbstick
brain: then you'd be pretty screwed anyway. most of your life is on those disks.
me: you know what i mean. i don't think i could go through losing them again and keep my sanity.
brain: you could print them out too. that way you'd still have it in three places. You'd have to buy a new filing cabinet/something but if it makes you feel any better...
me: i might do that. even some of the cruddier ones might be worth it. you never know, printing them out and having them in my hands might give me a new line of prospective on them.
Hum, that's one i'm ganna have to sit on for a while.
Oh, and i don't have sims 3 yet either :(. I don't want to get it until i know if my laptop can take it/ i know i have enough money. I must be freeken insane!! i wants it so bad and yet i make myself wait even longer. I must love punishing myself or something. *sigh* i wants it.
i'll see you guys/ person later. now to get reading things and do other things, like getting ready for a party i'm goen to.

AHHHHHH!!!!! DX *rant allert*
Well, i'm officially pissed and no amount of kind words can calm me down - not like my family use anyway. You wanna know why? I JUST DELETED ALL MY FUCKING STORIES OFF THE FUCKING 'SAFE' DISC AND NOW I'VE LOST FUCKING ALL OF THE MOTHERFUCKERS!!! DX It was an accident.
You don't know how much it hurts to have almost 10 years of sweat and frustration deleted in milli seconds without any way of getting them back. I feel like dieing...well, not really but it sucks worse than anything i've ever felt. YEARS WASTED!!! AND I'D FINISHED SOME OF THEM!!!!!!!! THEY WERE DONE! READY FOR EDITING! WHAT THE HELLLLLLL!?!?!!! I have some of the oldest ones backed up from when i had my old computer but they're no where as good as they were on the disc. I managed to save some of my favourites on my laptop to work on them more but that's no real consolation. I had two of my favourites on that disk and now i'll never get them back.
I guess i'll get over it eventually but it still stings. I suppose it's like i've lost part of my history when i lost those stories. A story travels with a person's life really, how they write changes with their moods and ideas can be affected by what happens in reality. Loosing the footprints from my life that were on those stories is the hardest part. It's a tie to the people i've been, the people who loved to write with a passion and who actually HAD a passion. There was a sense of hope with the younger me, of confidence but now that's gone.
I suppose it's also a case of 'what do i have to show for all those years now?!' as well. Sure, school's one thing but that's not as personal as my stories are. School work is a measure of academic or artistic or whatever achievements. If you're that kind of person, if your passion is taught in school, the it's a good measure. but writing stories was never like that for me so school's not a good measure for me.
Well, now i've had a good rant and i've got that out of my system i think i'll be fine. I'm thinking i'll start from scratch at remaking some of the better ones *sigh* that's ganna take a long time. I'll start some new ones to replace the fallen.
Mum said she'll ask at work about whether i can somehow get the lost files off my computer some how. Oh, yeah, i deleted them off my computer too. That was a smart move *face, desk*. I thought they were taking up too much space, and they sort of were.
I'll try to keep you up dated.
